The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) project is a worldwide research project initiated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide data and analysis on the population, health, and nutrition of women and children in developing countries.

The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) is a USAID-funded activity that collaborates with international, regional and national partners to provide timely and rigorous early warning and vulnerability information on emerging and evolving food security issues.


» FSNAU Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit-Somalia

The Food Security and Nutrition Analysis Unit- Somalia (FSNAU) seeks to provide evidence-based analysis of Somali food, nutrition and livelihood security to enable both short-term emergency responses and long- term strategic planning to promote food and livelihood security for Somali people. The FSNAU provides several products, including bulletins and maps.


» GIEWS Global Information and Early Warning

These short reports describe the food supply and agricultural situation in countries or sub-regions experiencing particular food supply difficulties. They also alert the international community on measures to be taken.


» UNHCR's Health Information System (HIS)

HIS is a field-based tool which supports UNHCR's partners to collect and report public health data in the field. This new online version makes it easier for users to access and analyse HIS data, including UNHCR's external partners.


» IPC Integrated Food Security Phase Classification

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a tool for improving food security analysis and decision-making. It is a standardised scale that integrates food security, nutrition and livelihood information into a clear statement about the nature and severity of a crisis and implications for strategic response.


» MICS Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys

UNICEF assists countries in collecting and analyzing data in order to fill data gaps for monitoring the situation of children and women through its international household survey initiative the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS).


» NLIS Nutrition Landscape Information System

Bringing together all existing WHO Global Nutrition Databases dynamically, as well as other existing food and nutrition-related data from partner agencies, NLIS is a web-based tool which provides nutrition and nutrition-related health and development data in the form of automated country profiles and user-defined downloadable data.


» United Nations Standing Committee on Nutrition (SCN) - Nutrition Information in Crisis Situations (NICS)

The Nutrition Information in Crisis Situations (NICS) publishes information on key outcome indicators from emergency-affected populations in quarterly reports including narrative situation analyses and recommendations, as well as in web-databases with survey results from random sampled nutrition and mortality surveys.


» World Food Programme (WFP) Food Security Analysis

WFP assesses needs when an emergency breaks, monitors evolving situations and conducts large household surveys for an in-depth understanding of food security. WFP conducts a wide range of different analysis as the information requirements differs depending on circumstances (emergency or a long lasting chronic situation) and the operation cycles.
